Boudoir Do's and Don'ts

Updated: Dec 8, 2018

To make the most of your boudoir photo session, keep these Dos and Don'ts in mind.

I think every woman deserves to look and feel beautiful in her own skin and I love when a client feels that way about themselves through their boudoir images.

“There is no limit to how radiant, alive and irresistible you can be.”

To make the most of your boudoir photo session, keep these dos and don'ts in mind:

Do’s

Do spend some time on Pinterest and see what types of poses, outfits, and other ideas appeal to you. Create a board and send me a link!

Do look around for lingerie. Check out specialty lingerie stores both online and brick-and-mortar. Going in and trying things on is a great way to find options that are interesting, and beautiful, and sometimes less expensive.

Do have your consultation in person, if possible. Bring all the outfits you're considering and we'll decide together which ones to use for your session.

Do drink more water the week before your shoot. It helps your skin stay moisturized, and it’s just good for you.

Do shave/wax everything that needs it! Waxing should be done a couple of days before your session so that your skin isn’t irritated.

Do think about your nails. If you have polish, make sure that it looks nice and isn’t chipped. In general I think that more subtle looks are better; french, light pink, or nude.

Do give yourself some time before the shoot; take a hot bath, pamper yourself, let yourself become the calm, confident goddess you are!

Do make sure to wear loose fitting clothing an hour prior and on the way to the shoot. Tight clothes, like bras, can create unwanted lines on your skin. Also, maybe wear a button or zip up shirt as to not disturb your hair.

Do wash your hair and arrive with your face clean and free of makeup. My beauty expert will take good care of you, giving you a beautiful, natural look for your shoot.

DO COMMUNICATE! This shoot is all about you and the most important thing is that you are comfortable and having a good time.

Don’ts

Don’t forget SHOES! It’s something that is easily forgotten but is so very important! Make sure they are new or clean. (Extra tip: I love black and nude)

Don’t forget to also bring other accessories such as stockings, jewelry, or simple props you might want to use during the shoot, and be creative when choosing outfits. Even something as simple as a cardigan can be beautiful!

Don't spray tan or sun bathe right before your session. Your natural skin will photograph so much better.

Don’t worry too much. We’re going to have a fun time and create beautiful images together!
